Key Dates (2025/2026)

The AUS004 Australian Science and Engineering Fair (AUSSEF) was formed so no Australian student misses out on the opportunity of representing our country on the world stage at the annual International Science and Engineering Fair.

Thursday 8th May – Monday 19th May 2025: AUSSEF trip to Columbus, Ohio to compete at ISEF 2025

Regeneron ISEF 2025 runs from 11-16 May. Our AUSSEF team will have two days for sight-seeing and preparations before the Fair begins. 1800 students from more than 70 countries will be vying for USD $9 million in prizemoney and scholarships at the world’s largest pre-collegiate Science and Engineering Fair.

AUSSEF trip to Tianjin, China to compete at 39th CASTIC (Date to be announced and the trip is subject to funding)

The 39th CASTIC (China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contect) runs from (TBA). Our AUSSEF team consisting of four students and one chaperone will be competing against 600 students from more than 30 countries in Asia’s largest Science and Engineering Fair.

Wednesday 12th November 2025: Deadline for AUSSEF 2025 Project Submission

Projects to be received by 11:59:59 pm in the time zone of your Australian state or territory. Entries will be time-stamped and any late entry will not be judged. An appeal process will be established, with the final decision to be made by the AUSSEF Scientific Review Committee (SRC). Please ensure entries are submitted well before the deadline so internet issues do not affect your submission.

Monday 17th November – Wednesday 26th November 2025: Stage 1 Judging for AUSSEF 2025 projects

National Short-listing Judging Panels in the 22 ISEF categories will triple-mark all projects and short-list the top 1-4 projects from each category to be forwarded to the Stage 2 Judging Panel.

Thursday 27th November – Friday 28th November 2025: Stage 2 Judging for AUSSEF 2025 projects

Stage 2 Judging Panel will feature senior assessors from the Stage 1 Judging who will narrow the short-listed projects down to 20-24 projects.

All students will find out if their projects are short-listed or not on the 1st or 2nd December. Students with short-listed projects will be informed of video interview details on Wednesday 3rd December.

Monday 1st December – Monday 15th December 2025: Stage 3 Judging for AUSSEF 2025 projects

The ISEF Selection Judging Panel, independent from Stage 1 and 2 judging, will assess the short-listed projects from Stage 2 and rank the top projects. Stage 3 Judging will include each short-listed student or team having a 10-15 minute online video interview with members of the ISEF Selection Judging Panel. These video interviews will be scheduled on either Wednesday 10th December, Thursday 11th December or Friday 12th December, between 5pm – 8:30pm.

Judges in each stage will be using the published judging criteria that are based on the ISEF judging criteria.

Wednesday 17th December 2025: Email notification to nominated ISEF Team

The top nine to eleven project winners and their teachers and adult sponsor will be notified by email on Wednesday 17th December 2025.
