Today was a bit of a rest day after two full days of travelling. After a 9:30 breakfast, the AUSSEF and NZ delegation travelled by bus to a Walmart Supercentre, where we shopped for items that are needed for our ISEF displays. The students also collected food supplies for their rooms and some purchased gifts. After a lunch at Charley’s Philly Steaks we returned to the hotel before getting ready for our Sunset Hummer Tour of the Sonoran Desert.

Our current delegation of 29 people were picked up by 3 Hummers, from Stellar Adventures, and we travelled in 40C heat to the Sonoran desert where we did some major off-road driving amidst the towering Saguaro cactus that are native to Phoenix. We also took the opportunity to get some group photos. It was another awesome experience and the student finalists had a great time.

This completes the tourist stage of our ISEF trip. Tomorrow morning we register for ISEF and set up our posters – the real fun begins.
